More from the weekend

Well I wanted to write more yesterday, but I just had so much to share about my weekend that I didn't have a chance. Today, was a great day because I got to talk to my dear friend Emily on skype. I will be leaving for Malaysia in a little more than two weeks which is very surreal feeling. I'm both excited and sad to be leaving Taiwan.
Anyways back to my weekend! On Saturday after returning from the town of Luguang, we went to a delicious buffet restaurant which was in this beautiful building that looked like a castle. At the restaurant I actually met up with an old classmate from high school( Julia lived with my family for six weeks during the summer ESL program). We were so lucky to host such a sweet young woman from Taiwan. I was so happy to be able to meet up with her here while I was in Taichung. It was so fun getting to here about her first year of college while eating a delicious meal with her and the Huang family. I'm so grateful to the Huang family for hosting me for the weekend. They truly are an amazing family and so much fun to be around.
After our huge meal, we returned home and called it a night. I decided to read a bit and just relax before going to bed. It was so nice to not hear the sounds of the city and just hear the sound of nature while falling asleep.
On Sunday, we started off our day by having a traditional Chinese breakfast which consisted of steamed buns and some small dishes. After breakfast we took a walk around the neighborhood where we were staying. I ended up getting bitten by lots of mosquitoes, but the walk was very peaceful. We then headed out to the grape farm where we got to eat delicious grapes and see the workers harvesting the grapes. We took a walk around the grape farm area and it was absolutely beautiful! After our time at the grape farm, we had a feast of a lunch at a restaurant near by. I had no idea what to order because the menu was all in Chinese, but I ended up ordering this delicious BBQ chicken which came with about 10 other side dishes and was so so so good. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the chicken was cooked, hehehe. The man who owned the restaurant also had his own coffee plantation where he grows and roasts his own coffee. I ended up getting to try a cup of the coffee he made after our meal, which was the perfect ending to the perfect meal.
After our meal, we ended up walking back to the house which only took about 10 minutes. I got several more bug bites in that short amount of time, but it was nice to walk since I was so full.
We ended up just resting a bit; I actually fell asleep on the couch and slept for quite a while. We sadly had to leave at about 4:00 p.m. from Taichung to head back to Taipei. The weekend really went by too quickly. I was so sad to have it end, because I enjoyed it so much. I definitely realized that if I were to come back to Taiwan to live I would definitely like to live in a different area that Taipei like Taichung. It has a much nicer feel to it and in general its not so crowded. The drive back to Taipei took us about 3.5 hours. I can't believe the traffic on the highway, it is really so crowded. I definitely could never drive in that type of traffic. I get nervous just driving in Boston!
Overall I had such a lovely weekend, and am so glad that I got to leave Taipei and go to a different area of the country.
